The Alpha Course

the ALPHA Course

The Alpha Course is a tool built for and used by local churches to explore life and the Christian faith through hospitality, presentations and open discussion.  The Alpha Course is run all over the world and millions of people have experienced Alpha, with it now being translated into 112 different languages.

Alpha is specifically designed to create conversation.  No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: hospitality, a talk and good conversation.

Hospitality

Whether in person over a meal or virtually with a cup of tea, all sessions start with a time to connect, relax and build friendships.  This time creates space for people to share life on a deeper level.

Talk

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation.  Each talk is around thirty minutes long and given in a video format.  They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from:  Who is Jesus? And How can we have faith? To Why and how do I pray? And How does God guide us.

Discussion

One of the most important parts of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and discuss in a small group.  There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say.  It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute from your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

There’s no cost to participate on an Alpha Course, no pressure, and no follow-up if you decide after the first session not to come back.

Next course starting: Tue 20th August | Time: 7pm | Banchory West Church | Free Dinner
