CONNECT Groups
At The West Church, we believe that real connection with God and with each other happens in community. That’s why our Connect Groups are so important—they offer a space where individuals can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and support one another in faith. These groups meet at various times and locations, allowing people to come together outside of our regular Sunday services for prayer, study, fellowship, and service. With 18 groups currently active, we are excited about the way God is using these gatherings to move among us and impact our wider community.
Friendship Afternoon Service
This group meets on the last Monday of each month at 2:00 pm in the West Church Sanctuary. Led by Christine Mechie, this service focuses on building community through friendship, providing a space for people to connect and encourage one another. Currently, around 70 people attend, with approximately 50 from West Church
Prayer Groups
Prayer is at the heart of our church life, and we have several opportunities for gathering in prayer. Our Monday Church Prayer Group meets every Monday from 6:45 to 7:15 pm on Zoom. For in-person prayer, we also have a Prayer Breakfast on the first Saturday of each month at 8:00 am, where we come together to pray for our church and community.
Bible Study Groups
For those who want to dive deeper into Scripture, we offer several Bible study groups. There are a number of days and times these groups meet to offer something for everyone. These groups provide valuable spaces for study and discussion, helping participants grow in their faith.
Special Interest Groups
In addition to Bible study and prayer, we offer a variety of other groups that cater to different interests. The Chosen Film Group, which offers both a weekly meeting and a monthly gathering at various homes, is a fun way to explore faith through film and discussion.
Fellowship and Support Groups
We value building relationships, and our groups provide space for support and fellowship. The Men’s Breakfast Group meets monthly at 7:00 am at Tor-na-Coille Hotel, for fellowship and discussion. Similarly, the West Church Ladies Who Lunch Group meets occasionally for fellowship and social connection over lunch at local eateries.
The Alpha Course
The Alpha Course is a fantastic opportunity for those exploring the Christian faith or looking to refresh their understanding of its core teachings. This course provides a welcoming environment where individuals can ask questions, engage in open discussions, and learn more about the basics of Christianity. Whether you’re new to faith or have been a Christian for years, Alpha offers a place to explore life’s big questions in a supportive and non-judgmental space. The course is typically offered annually, and we invite you to join us for this transformative journey of discovery and growth.
3C's Group
(Coffee, Craft, and Chat)
If you enjoy a relaxing afternoon of crafting and conversation, this group is for you! Meeting from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on the second Monday of each month at the Ross Room at the West Church, this group is led by Jean Hunter and Shirley Johnston. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share in creativity and fellowship.
These are just a few of the many ways we’re connecting with each other and with God in our church community. Whether through prayer, study, creative activities, or social gatherings, there’s a group for everyone. We love hospitality and most of our groups include drinks and snacks. We encourage you to find a group that fits your interests and needs, and join us as we grow together in faith!
