We are excited about our “Next Level” Building Project which we aim to start work on in early 2013.
We have great aspirations for our Church buildings, as you will know through attendance at Church or from Contact Magazine. We have been blessed with substantial legacies left by William Murray and Jeannie Low. Our vision is that these will enable us to enhance our Church buildings for worship and mission.
It is an exciting time for our Church as we witness growth. We wish to take this to the “Next Level”; to have a versatile, accessible and modern sanctuary for worship, and provide much needed meeting space for church and community activity; to rejuvenate our Old Lower Hall and build on our reputation for hospitality and to engage with the wider community as a beacon for Christian mission in Banchory.
Here is an artist’s impression of what the sanctuary and external work might look like. At this stage details and colour schemes have not been decided. Full plans are available at Church. Larger copies of the images are attached at the bottom of this page.
The legacies alone do not cover the cost of the plans the Kirk Session has approved. We need to raise significant sums to do all we plan. We will not know the full cost until the planning process is completed and on receipt of tender prices. Our fund raising has got off to a positive, encouraging start. Our Kirk Session have taken the lead and donated and pledged over £60,000 to add to the existing legacies of around £400,000. Our members are responding in kind and our fundraising has recently reached £500,000.
We realise that the current financial environment is challenging for family budgets and that returns on savings are low for those in retirement. There is no doubt that support of this Church project will involve some financial sacrifice. However we have a great opportunity to transform our Church into a contemporary, versatile place of worship, a centre for mission to God’s glory, and a real beating Christian heart on Banchory High Street.
We seek your support. Pledge packs are available at the church, and details of how to give online will follow.
